Job Description:
Responsibilities:

As the chief academic officer of the BU, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs oversees all academic and student affairs functions within the Bakhtar University, and is reportable to the Chancellor and through the Chancellor to the Board of Directors. The position entails the following responsibilities.

Oversee the academic enterprise consistent with the BU vision and mission, values, and standards.

Review courses and make and update curriculum/program for all the faculties and departments.

Oversee production of reports, including enrollment and programs offered/programs completed.

Make recommendations on accreditation issues and follow-up.

Develop and recommend an annual academic calendar.

Develop and revise BU policies and procedures as needed to implement BU goals and expectations, and to ensure compliance.

Review and make recommendations on admission requirements.

Review institutional tenure policies for quality and consistency.

Provide oversight of retention management initiatives.

Develop and support diversity policies and activities.
-
Strategic planning for the improvement of BU.

Provide direction, advice, and evaluation to academic and student affairs staff positions.

Serve on various councils/committees, as assigned.

Supervises the deans of all the faculties and the director of the Library, evaluating and approving their recommendations for faculty hiring, promotion, and tenure.

Supervises budget preparation for the academic and academic-related programs, allocating and reallocating funds and resources to and from these programs.

Provides leadership in creating and maintaining academic standards and policies.
Job Requirements:
Record of successful academic accomplishments.

Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible senior-level experience at the dean or higher level at a research institution.

Experience in academic planning, program and policy development, and leadership. Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and collegially with the many constituencies.

Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student success and to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning organization.

Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Fluency in English and other native languages.
